Hello fellow forumites.
As a semi-newby to this forum and new to the pedal steel, I just wanted to give a Giant Thanks to Russ Wever. My background is more around guitar and lapsteel as well as dobro. After years of wanting to learn pedal steel, I happened upon an older Excel D10 at a yard sale in Nashville. Well, after a trip to the bank (money and blood)lol....I came up with the cash I needed and bought the psg. I brought it home with the Bruce Bouton dvd it came with but alas, was still perplexed about its abilities (and mine.)
While on tour here in VA, I decided to bring the Excel and start the learning process.
Russ was playing steel for the Lost Highway Show at Wells Theatre in Norfolk, VA, and through communication before and after, he came over and helped me set it up and showed me some of the basics. Again, a week later, Russ came over and changed/improved some of the pedal assignments to help me get a better utilization of it.
Russ is an excellent player, person and teacher. My desire is to make this instrument into a wonderful lifelong learning experience.
Major Kudos goes to this forum as I have been reading many blogs, comments and positive communications and am proud to be a member.
The learning continues......... _________________ www.lloydmccarter.com
