I just now talked with Bobby and he had a catscan last Monday. The cancer is a tumor in the jaw. He goes into the hospital again next Monday to find out what the operation will consist of, where they will operate such as the jaw, the limp nodes, the neck or the chest. Next Thursday is the projected date to have the operation.
Bobby told me that he has had many, many get well cards as well as phone calls. I think I know what it is - he is just now finding out that he has been respected not only as a great guitar player but a great person as well for over 40 years. He has been the staff guitarist at the various steel guitar shows here in St. Louis and the band director at the Steel Guitar Conventions since 1968. Keep watch on this thread and I will update you on the result of next Mondays meeting with his doctor. He certainly needs you prayers. Scotty |

Bobby, I didn't know until now. I was shocked to read what Scotty wrote. I will pray for you.
You don't know me. I do have a clear picture of you in my mind. The time was 1977 and you were on stage at the ISGC doing your famous backup work for the steel players. I marveled at how sturdy and consistent you were in your playing. You picked great 31 years ago. Imagine the beautiful notes that come from your guitar today!
I think you have been playing guitar at every steel convention since then.
You have my respect as a person and a great musician.
May the Lord help you pull through this latest hurdle.
with sincere appreciation,
Bent |

Thank you Scotty for informing us. You're continued updates will be appreciated.
This is without question a very difficult time for Bobby, his family and many friends. It's comforting for me to know he's one who has a positive attitude and faith. Prayers are on the way from the Anderson home....... |

bobby, this will work right here. just received the two cd's you sent. damng! chester and merle live! how proud they would be that you continue to draw on that style, from time to time, just to entertain some ole thump-pickers as well as let some newbies and traditional plectrum players feel good about what could be. kool, kool, thumb and fingers as well as your classy straight pickin' with some pretty shiney steel players. there are a few of those steeler fella on this board that appreciate how subtly you complement their musical thoughts. if ya play guitar guys, you'll be reachin' for it exclaiming, ''how'd he do that?'' thanx to scotty for the update, it is just what was needed to put up this happy post. prayers yes , sorrow no, like you read in my last post bobby, they cannot take your 'precious memories' ,nor your class. they belong to you!. _________________ stay tuned, kenny |

I spoke with Linda this morning. She told me that the cancer is still in it's very early stages, and there is every reason to believe they caught it in time for Bobby to recover completely.
Bobby and Linda are of course concerned, but they are not deeply worried, and think that Bobby is going to be OK.
Let us pray that they are right. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.
