Hi Guys,
I played Caitness in Scotland this week, flew in with EasyJet. On the vennue I discovered damage: Steelguitar broke 4 tuningpeggs and my rackcase was smashed. My Boogie preamp was torn of the 19 inch hings, tubes lying around in the rack and cables where torn of. Who can I sue for this and how do I do this. I know, I'm stupid, but my gear wasn't insured...
Any suggestions? Thanks,
Johan Jansen |

Hi Johan
I've no solution for your problems, but best wishes with it. It's a heartbreaker.
I played Caithness on the Sunday afternoon (I'm with The Country Legends Show). It was bad enough with the appalling weather without having your guitar trashed by Uncaring baggage handlers.
All the best

real sorry to hear bout this JJ
i can imagine that you'll get your gear insured for the next time
did you file a claim when you got the gear on arrival ?
did you take pics of the dammaged gear ?
you got the original invoices on what they're worth ?
i believe airlines have a maximum compensation fee that does'nt compare w: the real value of your gear
looks like you're gonna have to fight this one
Good luck |

Hi Barry,
it shure was bad weather, but I enjoyed the very good organized festival, and the people backstage helped me a lot. It was only a bummer when we got the bill for food and drinks from the Hotel >>>>>>>
Charly Stepp sends me the damaged parts for free. That's service from Derby steel!!!

I spent some time in an airport in the US on Friday last, and for an hour I watched the baggage gorillas lobbing the cases instead of placing them on the conveyor belt onto the planes. They were playing some sort of game to see how far they could throw the cases and laughing and joking between each other. I should have taken a video of this little scene and sent it to the company concerned.
The only real way of packing the steel guitar properly is to bubble wrap first and then bind securely in cardboard, but even then there is no guarantee the guitar will come out undamaged.
This is a sorry tale. |
