Probably been posted before but even if it has, it bears repeating!

I made the same mistake yesterday Larry. The same video is just down the page under LLOYD. Very Happy
It really does show Lloyd in a little different way than I'd seen him. He probably does lots of fast stuff but I had only heard the slow ballad side. Very impressive.

Bill, some of the things I've heard Lloyd play have had a machine-gun fast staccato attack with the right hand. In my opinion, and I'm sure a lot of other folk's too, Lloyd Green is a true musical genius, and one of the most incredible players to ever touch a pedal steel guitar!

While I am in total awe of many other great steel guitarists, Lloyd has always been my favorite.

One other note while I'm thinking about it, that makes Lloyd all the more impressive is the fact that he's left handed, yet plays right handed. I'm right handed, and I can't even imagine hitting the correct string if I had tried to learn and play steel left handed!!!!!

I met a guy who was playing for Neal McCoy and he had a left handed steel guitar. I could not get my mind around it and simply could not envision myself playing it. There was just no way I could turn my head inside out and upside down. I have been to this thread numerous times since I got back to the SGF and simply cannot get enough of it.

Lloyd had me as a studio guest back in the 60's and I recall turning to look at his hands and then his face, as he played something that sounded special to me. When the set wound down, he turned to me and asked what I had heard and I replied: "BYRD !!" He was sceptical as best I can recall but I was thinking: Would I lie ? I knew what I had heard then and I still hear it now in this recording !!

Regards, Paul

Very Happy Rolling Eyes

Lem; I have to agree with you about the talents of this man; From the first time I heard Lloyd on a " Charlie Pride " Record; I could not believe that anyone could make a Steel guitar sound so fantastic; I'm sure his playing sold a million of Charlie's Albums. I just love to watch him play the steel; his right hand is so well co-ordinated; and the way he holds his little finger; especially at the ending of his songs. His little finger brings the whole tune to a fine climax.. And I also hear a touch of our late and great Jerry Byrd..Thanks for this up- tempo tune by our man, Mr. Lloyd Green.. Bernie
