Hey guys. I need to find new nutrollers for my d-10 MCI. I have a bad buzz on the fifth and sixth string. It helps if I wind the strings under the keys. I also have really weird overtones going on exactly on the 12th fret, and beyond the 12th fret hardly any sustain.I have already tried oiling the rollers, etc.
I also need one tuner on the ninth string on c-6 neck,(not sure what type of tuning key), also a new pickup switch, and some of those tiny allen head nuts used on the knee levers. Also, I could use a new lkr lever to match the others.
Maybe someone would know if other manufactures parts would fit. I called Carter and they don't deal with parts for other guitars. Any info greatly appreciated!

Forum member Don Burrows, of BSG guitars made some great replacement nut rollers for me..... all you need is one good one for a sample... tuners are easy to find from any of the steel shops listed in the links section. Allen set screws should be obtainable from the local hardware or automotive store.

Swap your 5th and 6th rollers with the 9th and 10th, and your problem will probably go away.

MCI seem to have 2 rollers on each neck that have lower heights, I'm assuming for thicker strings. I stuck my 2 "out of size" ones on the 1st. and 2nd. strings. Not too bad there.

I think I'll try John and Donny's tips and then go from there. I honestly don't know if any of the rollers are what they should be. They all seem to have "slop" in them. If nothing else, I might just send one of the keyheads to BSG or Pedalmaster and have all new rollers made. Looks like some nice work there. Is there someone who sells just single tuners out there? Still want knee levers, too.
As I've been working underneath this thing, I noticed nearly every screw holding the neck and keyhead wasn't tight, some even really loose. What a difference in tone and sustain by tightening that all down. My whole problem at the 12th fret and above went away! I think this old MCI just needs some tender lovin'.
One last thing, anyone ever try Georgl L EONs in a MCI. I have a Lawrence 910 and it is brighter than I would like. I want a smooth, round tone. A local guy uses the EON's with his Bethel and it sounds AMAZING! Might just be the guitar though. I am wondering if these MCI's might just have a brighter tone to begin with.Thanks again to this fine forum.

I had a Wallace Truetone in the MCI that I owned..... 17K if I recall. I liked it.
You might want to see if you can get a lever kit made up by the vendor that makes the rollers for you.

Carter parts work really well on the MCI, but they won't sell them, except for installation on a Carter guitar. I got some pull bars and a LKV kit from Bud before they instituted that policy. So look for something with specs similar to a Carter.

Josh, I installed Truetones on my EMCI almost as soon as I got it and combined with my Evans amp I find them a little harsh and strident on the top end. I've rolled just about all the treble off the Evans but am still searching. I think I'll try a pair of Tonealigners next.
