Hi Ray !! I have friends that came to visit that live near Phoenix and they said that most stations there play either country or Mexican music !! Split nearly 50/50 !! ?? So figure that out !!! And they said that almost everyone carries a gun !! = Low crime rate !!! Eddie "C" ( old non-pedal geezer )

The further you get from Phoenix or Tucson, the better chance you'll hear either radio or live groups playing the kind of country forumites pine for.

It looks like we'll be in Phoenix on April 25th to appear at the Hearing of the guy that killed my grandson last November.
I hope to make a little bit of a brief vacation out of this ordeal, if possible. I want to see the Boneyard and also the large museum nearby.
Would love to see/hear any of you guys that are makin' music in the area at that time.
Boneyard etc

Hi, The Boneyard and the Pima Air and Space Museum are both in Tucson, pretty much next to one another. I think that you need to call Davis Monthan AFB to arrange to see the Boneyard, as they don't have scheduled tours, otherwise you can drive around the perimiter for a ways and look through the fence.
I'm playing at The Maverick on Fri and Sat nights with the Robert Moreno Band. You can call me if you like at 520-888-6352 and Ill put you on the guest list (save $5).

Hey Ray,
Sorry for the reason you have to come here.
Cave Creek (north side of PHX) is where Danny Sneed plays at The Buffalo Chip (he's a must see/hear). They pretty much exclusively play mostly traditional Country and some swing even. As of now, I'm scheduled to play with Young Country next door on the same night...they'll play mostly Country early in the evening but will go more rock the last few sets (I'll be playing steel and keys). Here's a link to Harold's which probably has directions...the parking lot is shared with the "Chip"

Neil and Rich are both here, but I don't think either is gigging anywhere at this time. I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Al- Rawhide moved out south of Phoenix near a Casino and Firebird Raceway about 3 or 4 years ago. I was out there about 2 or 3 weeks ago.
The new one is similar but bigger and they say better.

Thanks, Joe. I'll bet the land was cheaper on the south of Phoenix, more land available too.
What brought this up is I was waiting for a new Steel, so My old buddy,Bob Meadows, a Great Western Swing steel player, let me use his ZB D10, for a couple of weeks. He had a new MSA 12 string. He had Porter's Western Wear Store in Downtown Scottsdale for years.I guess his wife, Marj, ran it for while after he died. He made Saddles and Leather work. A very talented guy....al.
