Peavey Deuce Speaker Question

I'm have a potential local buyer for my Deuce. I'm trying to find out what speakers are in it. The numbers on the back are 12838g and 575817. No name or anything. I found one page that says they're black widows, but I doubt that as there are no bolts going through the magnet. I've also seen references to Heppner and Celestion, but nothing conclusive. Anyone know?
Thanks
David

I believe they used Electro Voice speakers in some amps back then.

Mine has Celestion Vintage 30's in it. Don't know if they are original, but since I bought it at a US Navy auction, I would think that they are.

I assume there are no other codes on the speaker.
If 575817 is actually the EIA code for the speaker, then 575 denotes Heppner, and 817 denotes the 17th week in a year ending in 8 - in this case it would surely be 1978.
To my knowledge, there's no speaker manufacturer with an EIA code of 128.
You might look at the EIA code on the power or output transformers, or potentiometers inside the amp. If they're original, they could look like XXXYWW or XXXYYWW where XXX is the manufacturer's code, Y or YY would be the year (last digit for Y and last two digits for YY), and WW is the 2-digit week.
This link has a lot of EIA codes for speakers, pots, transformers, and so on.

Well the dude doesn't like the idea of the heppner speakers. I think they sound great. Anybody else use these? They are the round mag, not square like the 50's models.
