I have noticed that when a Profex or Tubefex become for sale on the Forum, they don't last long. I have used a Profex II since 1991 and have just purchased another for a spare.

Just wondered how many other players are still using a Profex or Tubefex as a regular piece of equipment.

I wouldn't want to have to play without mine.

Well....I'm still using my Profex II. I purchased it new in 93, replaced a couple of batteries through the years. Then about a year ago, Ken Fox did the "batteryless" and the Burr Brown chip mod. Now, it works and sounds better than new.

I just took mine out of the "system"
last week, looking for a different/better sound. I am going to put it back in next week, I miss the full rich sound. It has the Ken Fox mods.

Most of the time, I use a Tubefex for pedal steel these days, directly into a 300-watt GK bass head, which powers a Thiele cab with a 12" EVM-12L speaker. I really like it. It's powerful and clean, but has nice clarity and warmth, which I found pretty surprising.

There are certainly other good setups, to my taste. But when I want real presence, this works nicely.

i use a Transtube Fex and like it better than anything that i've tried.

My Profex II is still a mainstay in my steel rack system. I only use 2-3 of the presets of my own creation. What it has driven and the programs have changed over the years, but I see no plans on its removal any time in the future. I bought it new, and did the Ken Fox updates last year, but it has been among the most trouble-free sound components I have had. Especially considering the huge number of hours of use and miles to and from all the jobs it has done, hats off to it.

I commonly use a Profex II and I keep a spare Profex I. Sometimes I find the I model warmer than the II... No one has the Fox Mod but I think on it.

I've been using either a Tubefex or a Transtubfex since they were introduced. Great units.

I don't have one of the Profex II's but I still am using an older model Profex in my setup at home, I had Ken Fox put a batteryless chip in it, and it has been a great little unit. Not near as nice as the new ones. I guess I am probably the only one out here using one of these dinosaurs?? I have a manual for it, but am not good at programing thats for sure.

I always use my ProfexII & would sound even worse without it. Twice I have dropped it to the concrete sidewalk while carrying it. It still sounds as good as ever. (I know, I should not have admitted that)

I use a Profex I and either run it direct into my mixer board, using the two outputs for stereo, or run one into my N112 and the other into the Vegas 400. I use a bit of EQ, REVERB and DELAY. It gives a nice full sound.

I do the Profex II. Forgot it a while back and struggled all night on the gig

I've got a profex II. I've had it for about 15 years now. I also have a POD XT. I depends on the situation to which one I use or prefer. I've used the profex for recording and playing live. If I were to go to the studio today I'd be carrying the POD XT. For most live performances I prefer the profex over the POD XT.

I use the Tubefex into a 74 Session 400, and I like the options in tone and effects (Carter D10, EMCI D10, Mullen SD10).
