I'm the newest member of the Forum. I have been a steel guitar fan since I was a little boy.
And still have my first steel, a Carvin Console D6 new in 1975. I paid about $175.00 with case.

My uncle, "Smokey" (Al Gillyard), was my biggest influence. He played some for Hank Lockin, and wife Dixie sang and played guitar. He showed me a lot

I am a nonpedal fan but like, and have a lot friends playing, pedal steel.
I like trying different tunings and like the A6th and E7th the best.

A good friend said it was time for me to join the Forum and here I am. He was right of course.
This Forum is great. So far every question I have had, I found most of the answers here
The information here is fantastic and I thank all of you for sharing your knowledge us.
2007 was my 1st trip to ISGC. WOW!

You Friend
Jim

Welcome aboard, Jim.

Ditto what Laurie said. It's always nice visiting with you at the Manasota Steel Guitar jams. We have to miss some of the jams due to baby-sitting commitments, but we will probably see you again before too long.

Email me a picture of you and I'll put it on my web site.
