Hey Non-peddelers! Anyone ever heard of Lani Laurens? I just found an old album of his called Surfin' at Waikiki Beach. It's got all instrumentals and quite a nice lap steel tone. Great stuff. One cut sounds like Lovely Hula hands but is labeled Hula Love.

Not sure what year this is but the label is Spin-O-Rama and it's touting the RIAA stereo recording and technical data.

Any background on this very good player would be appreciated. This is a neat find!

I have quite a few old lp's, (cheapies) which feature fictious artists, (some were good, most were not). These albums had unbelieveable song titles to copywrite works. I think they did that deliberately to beat paying royalties. JMHO

Thanks Keoki. I hadn't thought of that angle. I do wonder who the steel player was for this though. Got a nice touch and tone. Probably no one famous or they would have gotten name credit. The Royal Polynesians is supposed to be the backup band so Lani Laurens may just have been an entrepreneur of some kind who hired the band.
