Warren; Was Tommy's real name, " Leonard Sipes "?? First time I have heard any thing about Tommy's personal life. Loved his voice the first time I had the pleasure of hearing him sing.
Always thot he had the best country sounding talent going. Didn't he work a lot with Buck and Merle, in their early years. I know Buck played Lead guitar on several of Tommy's recordings. Folks like them gave Bakersfield its' name.. Enjoyed those numbers on U-Tube.. Thanks for your post..Bernie  :)

Warren: Thanks so much for the history on Tommy; appreciate it so much.
Peter: Thanks for the photo of Tommy, when he visited Finland; I didn't see any steel guitar in the back ground; did you get to back him up on your steel? To me, just having had the opportumity to see him would have been enough, right? I appreciate talking with other players whom love the same folks that I admire very much. Thanks a heap..Bernie  :)

Tommy in Finland

Post by Peter Nylund »

Bernie, I'm not quite sure about the year Tommy Collins visited Finland, but I think it was late 80's. Maybe James Pennebaker on the fiddle could tell us what year it was. I did play steel there but because of my lack of talent I did not make it to the picture. Peter
