Anyone know of Henry Kapukai?

My deceased friend sold me his uncle's national empire state lap steel some years ago. His uncle was Henry Kapukai who ran The Hawaain Conservatory of Music in San Francisco durings the 1950's. According to my friend, he played many upscale luaus in hawaii and used to jam with Bernie Kaai. Does anyone remember him?
