My computer stalls at the first hurdle, and keeps trying to start over.
I've tried to go into Safe Mode, (so that I can get to System Restore) but it won't let me, and keeps going back to the start.
Is the Hard Drive at fault? |

If you hit F8 at boot up, and before Windows starts, you should get a DOS menu. One option should be "last known good configuration". Select that and see if it will startup.
If not, you may have to do a Windows XP "Repair" using the XP installation CD. You have to boot from the CD and instead of installing select the Repair option. |

Thanks Jack.
I've had to do a complete re-format, and load everything in again.
Unfortunately, I can't get any sound, there's probably something simple that I haven't done, but I can't find it.
Any advice gratefully accepted |

If your motherboard has an Intel chipset, you need to first install the Intel chipset drivers then install the sound drivers. The chipset drivers define what is on the motherboard. |

Thanks Jack
I went to 'Add Hardware', and the wizard did an online search and found the missing drivers. |
