Hey Steelers,
As fate has its way, at 64 I'm moving to the Dayton area.(50 miles west/Greenville) Wondering what is going on in the area for an old steel hack like myself. Hope to meet some new friends. Maybe jam a little.
Hopeing your not to hard on this old southern boy.

Welcome to Ohio.
Dayton sounds like a pretty central area. We'll just meet at your house and jam. Lots of the guys like chips and salsa. Check out the Ohio Steel Guitar Association. They meet in Columbus about once a month. You don't have to be a member to join us.
There is going to be a great steel show April 25, 26, 27 in New Philadelphia, Ohio. You could meet alot of great Ohio (and others) steelers there. Get right in with the "good ole boys." I'll be there too.
hugs,

Dick,
Hope all goes well.
Why would you move to a colder climate with snow and ice and nothing to stop the wind? I spent four year in Columbus just up the road a piece.

Dick,
I'm just an amatuer and I live in West Chester-- 20 miles north of Cincy and about 30 south of Dayton. You'll want to check out where ever Kenny Holycross is playing, and if you venture just south of Cincy to Wilder, KY you can catch Chuck Rich at Bobby Macky's every Fri/Sat.
Chubby Howard is right there in Franklin, OH, and Joe Adams is further East in the Washington Court House area. _________________ HagFan

|
|
Hey guys and Tamara, thanks for the shout back and invites. I will look into the OSGA as time permits and as soon as possible. Now for why. Why would an Old Texan, Brownsville, with blood as thin as the salty waters of the Gulf of Mexico, have any notion to move to Ohio. My wifes mother, June, is 85 this year and I've been in the USMC, moving around all over the place. During that time my wife Sandra, has supported me in my career, even careing for my mother as she had to moved in with us, her health failing. It is our hope and prayers to spend as much time with Sandras mother, while she is healthy and can enjoy our being there, as possible. She is still doing well, but we of course, all know how life works. June is a lover of Country Music and Steel Guitar, it will be my pleasure to have her hear me as much as she can and stand. So you see, it's my turn, my responsibility and believe me, I don't say that to wave my own flag. It's just how I was raised, I don't give it a second thought. I'll get used to the cold, ice, snow and wind. Ohio folk know the fishings great, the huntings unbelieveable, lots of open road to ride a Harley and I never met a person from Ohio I didn't like. So, if I can pick a little too, all will be well. That's the why, it's my story and if Sandra lets me, I'll stick to it. Thanks guys, looking forward to meeting some of you and becoming an Ohio picker. Dick Sexton |

Thanks Paul, We've been thinking on this for a while but it came sooner than later. Not looking forward to the cold, but I'm hearing from some real nice Ohio steel players. We'll have to stay in touch, as I'll want to know how the NC gang in doing. Take care, Dick S. |

What a great idea! It would be a real hoot if several of us could meet at this event one evening to Welcome Mr. Sexton to ohio. It would have to be when the weather is nice, I hear there is some great camping in that area. |

Mike,
Thanks for the invite. Walleye, now you've got my attention. I'll have to make it over to the Liberty Bell one of these weekends, after we get settled in. For me, Classic Country is where it's at. I'll give you a hollar when I have my puter back on line and I can.
Thanks again,
Dick
Tamara, sounds like a party. |
