Anyone know who the steeler was with her this morning? I tried to make out the brand of steel but Regis stood in front. Great music, IMO.

I didn't see the show, but Josh Grange is touring with her these days. He's the guy who played the great steel on Dwight Yoakam's Buck Owens tribute CD, and he also plays on the new Gary Louris CD that just came out. He posts here once in a while...

Thank you Pete; IMO, the steel was up and just great in the mix. It looked like a SD-10 but they didn't get close enough for me; and the camera went to the keyboard while he was still playing, bummer.

The steeler appeared to be of light build with dark, mid length hair and was playing a Sho-Bud, either red or light burgandy. It had a label on the left end like either a Pro-1 or Pro-2. They showed a close of his hands during his break on the 2nd song but didnt notice single or double neck. Played just enough and not too much. K.D. turned to him and handed it off for his part.

As Pete said, that's Californian Josh Grange. He plays a wine red mid-70's Sho~Bud Pro 1 square front, two-hole puller model. With Dwight he used a Fender Twin Custom 15. Not sure what he's using with K.D. I have a hunch it's the same setup.

I played that Sho-Bud, and it's sweet. It has an Emmons Pentad 5-way pickup, with a little switch hidden inside the back apron. It provides a neat array of tones. Josh is a great player and a really nice guy.

Hey everybody,
Light of build, that sounds about right....
Yes, someone told me that the Regis show ran again today.
We filmed that originally back in early Feb.
(Also, we just taped the Tonight Show today, so it should be on this evening.)

That was a Pro-I, and sorry to say I really don't know what year it is. I think actually Chris that it's a triple raise double lower changer on that one, 'narrow' pedals, 'gumby' headstock.
Greg Leisz ( my favorite steeler) plays on kd's record, and he also sold me that guitar.
Also, I switched the Pentad pickup for a Lawrence 910.
And the amp I'm using these days in an early silverface Deluxe.
I'm still using the bar Chris gave me in "The Most Easterly Part of North America", Newfoundland. I think it's a stainless steel bar, right Chris?

by the way, Pete Finney is a MONSTER player....!!

Josh, you're still using that bar? What a riot! Wasn't that bar to blame for a slip-up during "Together Again" on Dwight's tour? I still feel bad about that... Laughing

I've been keeping track of the K.D. dates for Canada. Montreal in late May is a possibility. I'd really like to see this tour.

Safe travels, my friend. St. John's is awaiting your return. Which reminds me...I should change the location on my forum ID back to "St. Johns". Smile
