Good work David. What a calm right hand. You've been putting in some long hours practicing. Impressive.
Bob, thanks for posting.

Great job on this one, David...as all your others.
Question? What does your 4th pedal do? |

Fantastic as always....I love watching your videos and listening to you.
Say, any chance you could provide a tab or some other recognizable communication as to how you did that little chromatic lick at about 2:00-2:03? Just fantastic.

I just bought this funny looking guitar on legs and screwed it together and played Hello Mary Lou..
Really though, when I got my first ZB i practised and learnt all the instrumentals that took my fancy off the PSG albums I have. I did want to learn a couple of intros from the Amber Digby album recently..You know? Them sort of licks that you hear a couple of times that you gotta learn how its done..Even dont get time to practice our duo these days. I have recorded 2 backing tracks in the last couple of weeks, 1/ 98.6 degrees and fallin' and 2/ Somewhere tonight.. I just stick them on an iPod, get it to Fran and she'll practice it at home and then we do it at gigs.. I dont even practice these new tracks until it starts playing on stage.. I think I have done so many DEPS over here, you just have to be ON YOUR TOES and ready. Its kinda fun just to start a song off and play whatever comes out I think.. OK, there are these clever licks you learn and pick up over the years but most can be learnt by listening to them a few times in my van while I am at work..You just try them out when you set up your steel at a gig and if you have it right, you try and fit it in a few places that evening..Getting back to Hello Mary Lou, Its a song I sing at gigs, I play 2 lead breaks, I have never worked these out, and never practiced the youtube thing either. I start a track of and play along to it.. YES i might have to restart the thing a couple of times cos I made big errors, but not often.. It all comes easy with experience and I have had 36 years of it now and thats without being brainwashed with country music since birth.. Its 6.20am in UK now, I am getting uo now for another days work.. DH |

Dave
What other instruments do you play.
Also, do you play any Eagles, CSNY, CCR or other country rock?
I would love to hear one of those on youtube sometime.
Thanks for putting those songs up.
It is an education.

Hi David,
It's such a pleasure to see you play one of my all time favorite tune.
You do it with such an ease. I am very impressed.
If you have time you could listen to my own version on guitar.
This is the link to the audio file on my website:
"Hello Mary Lou"
This is the link to the video on Youtube (but the sound is not very good):
"Hello Mary Lou"
Hope you like it.
Best Regards,
Abel |
