I traded for a 1501 or 1502 BW DT,The dust cover is loose,or maybe cracked. I haven't pulled the speaker. Anyway. Can this be repaired? If so. I'm open to suggestions. Or will I have to with replace the basket? Thanks in advance...bb |

Dust covers can be replaced / reattached. I remember Phillips used to sell an adhesive specifically for this purpose. However, I have used automotive gasket shellac in the past, to repair speakers, with great results. A technician buddy of mine put me on to this years ago. He said its pretty much the same formula. |

Email Ted Weber at WeberVST and he can send you the right cap and installation instuctions. It's a 5-minute job. _________________ No chops, but great tone

You can probably repair/replace the dust cap easily, but make sure that there is no dust, particles or dirt in the gap as the speaker will most likely fail if it has been exposed for any period of time. |

FWIW, I have a BW 1203 that had the dust cover come loose around the outside diameter...quite a large portion of it...I used some automotive grade black RTV silicone sealant for a nearly invisible repair and the speaker has been working and sounding great for several years.
I like silicone for speaker repairs as it remains flexible and doesn't dry out and become brittle like some adhesives do. |
