Here's a clip from 1982, a song that was written by Dan Fogelberg and is still popular with Bluegrass bands...but don't worry: No banjos, but plenty of steel!

Walter
Good morning from England.
I don't know who it is, but that to me, is exquisite, innovative, and precise steel work.
My guess would be Myrick or Franklyn.

My guess is Mike Smith on steel.

I'd say either Doug Jernigan of J.D. Maness. Wish it were me. WOW, great picking.

Hi Walther
This is my guess
It reminds me of a lp with a group called Cowboy Jazz. Their steeler were Barry Sless.

Thomas, you got it. Cowboy Jazz was a group from Maryland that recorded two albums on Rounder, this track comes from their album 1982 album "Swing Boogie", the steel player is a guy named Barry Sless - anybody having information about him? He also did the lead guitar work for the group, really a great musician!
Kind Regards, Walter
