What brands of strings do y'all use on a Stringmaster?
I'm thinkin' A6, E13, and C6 (FACEGACE). Also thinkin' about tuning the middle neck to E13 so I can grab the tone control easy for wah-wah's. Whadya think?
Anybody use juststrings.com?
You thoughts and opinions matter greatly to me, so fire away.
thanks,
Drew

I've got SIT's on my 55'T-8 right now and like how they sound but will try some Jaqwires purchased here on the Forum next time. I'v got A6 on the closest neck then B11 on the middle and C6 on the outer neck. |

Just received some C6/A6 Jagwires from the forum. They're fresh, and sound and feel very nice. Thanks b0b! |

Drew, for my Stringmasters I use the Jagwire strings b0b carries here on the forum. They sound great and he gets 'em out fast. |

I just bought two sets from Juststrings, the semi-flat types, and the wrappers were from Scotty's, so I could have ordered direct if I would have known. |

I like D'Addario because you can by indivudual gauges in most music stores around the country. For tone, I really like the semi-flatwound strings Scotty sells, but I noticed the intonation gets a little sharp on the heavier strings the higher up the fretboard you go. That can make octaves past the 12th fret a bit of a pain.
I would recommend putting A6 on the inside, C6 in the middle, and E13 on the outside. This way the lowest tuning has the thinnest neck, and the highest tuning has the thickest neck, making the tone more even from neck to neck. I would also recommend using the E13 Leon McAullife used.
If you use A6, C6 with a low F, and Leon's E13, you have a very popular setup for a T-8 Stringmaster. This setup was used by Johnny Sibert (Carl Smith) and Joe Vincent (Faron Young) as well as many others. the Don Helms E13 is also a great tuning, but then you'd prettty much have a bit heavy T-8 guitar with the same tuning in different keys on all three necks.

When I had my T-8, I found that strangely, I couldn't choose which tuning went on which neck. The tuning chose it's neck. I tried the (3)-tunings that I used on each neck. Each tuning only worked on one of the three necks! I used #1. C6/A7, #2. C-Diatonic, #3. E9/13. It wasn't a matter of Sound, but; rather a matter of Comfort!
