Can anyone tell me the tuning Sol Hoopii used on the song Hula Girl? It sounds like it's in G dobro type tuning. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks-

If memory serves it is in G dobro tuning cranked up a couple of notches to A. But he may also have been using low bass A tuning. From hi to lo E-C#-A-E-A-E. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |

It was probably played in open A tuning, which was the dominant tuning at the time.
1. E
2. C#
3. A
4. E
5. A
6. E
I play it (or try to play it) in the key of G using standard open G tuning:
1. D
2. B
3. G
4. D
5. B
6. G
It's a bit of a workout. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Thanks guys. The tune Hula Girl from the recording I have of Sol is in G, no doubt about that, and it's pretty evident that the first three strings are D,B, and G. I saw the Hollywaiians on YouTube doing it in G also. It's a workout alright. Thanks again for the help.
