Kay sent us a "mood" piece complete with natural sounds enhancing the recording. Very soothing!

Quote:
I have had this tune on the back burner for many moons, finally decided to complete it; the intro features steel in the company of the humpback whale which frequents the more northern waters of the Pacific, off the coasts of the Hawaiian islands.

Humpback whales are the noisiest and most imaginative whales when it comes to songs. They have long, varied, complex, eerie, and beautiful songs that include recognizable sequences of squeaks, grunts, and other sounds. The songs have the largest range of frequencies used by whales, ranging from 20-9,000 Hertz. Only males have been recorded singing. They sing the complex songs only in warm waters, perhaps for mating purposes....

I wish to dedicate this tune to Elva West (of Trade Wind Guitars) and Jozef Smith who are doing much for steel guitar in Southern California with their respective talents.

Key of G, West Cost Steel, C6th tuning.

Kay

Very sweet Kay!

I liked the use of the humpback whale sounds in the intro and the way you worked the steel into that.

I also really enjoyed the acoustic guitar playing (reminded me a little of Barry Flanagan from HAPA) and the interplay with the steel.

I could imagine hearing this as music to accompany a travel video of the islands. Very evocative.

Thanks Kay Das for dedicating this song to Elva and me. We have enjoyed your company last week and hope there will be many more to come. The music and pictures are great. Mahalo.

Kay is one of my favourite steel guitarists on the HSGA website. When I am working on my mind altering machine, I have HSGA music going full time as my background to keep me in touch with the planet earth.

Another great one Kay. Wink
