I work a weekly "jam show" on Tuesdays at noon, at Catfish Johnny's in Lake Panasoffkee, Fl - where we have our Florida Steel Guitar Club jams. Joe Edwards and his wife, Jan, are here touring in Florida and came to the show yesterday (and opened the show). We were missing our lead guitar picker and it was just me on steel for lead instrument. We got Joe to sit in and pick lead yesterday and we had a great show (or at least I had a great time picking with Joe).

For those that don't know who Joe is, he was the fiddle player on the Opry (he was on the opry for 48 years) and also did some lead guitar work (He does a lot of Chet picking).

Hey Jack,
I remember Joe. He was one of the good guys that I remember, back when I enjoyed watching the opry. Not too much to see anymore. Of course Tommy's there and he's certainly worth watching, but the rest........nah. Just ain't what it use to be. JMHO

Joe is a great player and I miss not seeing him on the "Opry". I know that was a fun time for all. Bobby

Joe is a super musician and one of the nicest guys you ever met. I had the opportunity to play with Joe in Stephenville and St. John's Newfoundland way back in the 60's when he was with Bobby Helms. I remember the ballroom in St. John's was so big that I was using two Fender amps and the sound seemed to dribble off the stage. He was one of the first I had seen that used an echo (continious loop tape) on his guitar. What a great sound. I have one of Joe's recordings that he made in his studio. Great pickin'

Joe is a super player -- and has been for a long time. I remember seeing him with Jumpin' Bill Carlisle waaay on back there -- must have been late 50s. He saws a mean fiddle too -- and Jan is a great singer.

Sorry I missed it.
