How many players use or are on MSN MESSENGER or even YAHOO MESSENGER I personally prefer MSN MESSENGER but whatever, How may of you steelies have and use MSN MESSENGER?

I like using MSN MESSENGER for a number or reasons. The most important reason you can talk to people LIFE on real time! You don't have to write and leave messages and then wait! You can talk to people live.

I have a channel of EFNET called "guitartabs" again its real time, but there are not too many guitar players who use the MIRC. But at least you can talk live and real time. I like MSN because you can use your cam and can either show people what your doing or be shown what to do. You can transfer files to people that may be helpful as well. You can discuss any topic and give or get answers to on the spot!

So my question is how many steel players have and use MSN MESSENGER? Its free and is a great tool.

my logon to msn is ltb999@hotmail.com com

I usually have it on, but not all the time. I use it mainly to talk to my relatives and friends across the country. For guitar purposes I use the MIRC but you cannot talk voice thats the only let down with the MIRC! MSN you can also talk voice or look eye ball to eye ball if both have cams.

Hope a lot of ya use msn!

Get Trillian Basic 3. You can download it from here . It's been out for a number of years. It let's you communicate with AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ all with just the one program. And it's free. I've used it for a long time....

Dean, I used MSN for years. Now I find I like Skype the best..you can call other computers and also phones all over the world. Overseas rates are ridiculously cheap.

yes I used skype to for awhile but but most people I knew used msn and i like it better for a lot of reasons. 1 was the get assistance (help) function even though I don't use it now I rather use Remote Admin for assisting relatives and friends who have computer problems and I like the function their cam as well. Im finding that more people use msn messenger the most.

I can remember years ago wen ICQ was the biggy lolol

Well, with 10 million users on Skype at any given time, I dare say that Skype is one of the biggest. I also find it more reliable...never cuts me off a phone call for example. Those other programs mentioned...can they call regular telephones?

If so, do they have a once-a year low rate for calling within North America?
Do they offer overseas calling for 2.4 c a minute?

Skype also has very good video.

I went to a music chat room when I first had AOL years ago, lasted 5 minutes and haven't been back on one since. Seemed like 9 different conversations at once, all pointless.

I thought Skype was a phone system, not a chat system. Or are you guys talking about both?

I have unlimited long distance with Verizon and no real reason for international calls when email works so well - seems kind of redundant.

The chat thing I just don't get, I guess. Supposedly we can use the built-in camera on the iMac to do video chat or something - I have no clue why I would use it, and definitely no idea how.

first if I remember correctly Skype can be used also for live chat, but I haven't used it for over 3 years so really cannot remember.

As far as the messengers go any one of them like MSN; Yahoo; ICQ, etc. a person don't have to just write emails, then wait for a return email. Its live and real time. You can talk to a person and immediately get back responses.

I use msn for numerous reasons, the main reason is most of my relatives and friends have it. 2. it was one of the first that offered REQUEST ASSISTANCE, meaning I could for example go onto my mom's computer and fix some of her problems. She is 80 and started with her first computer at 70 and knew absolutely nothing about it and it was 1 problem after another. so every week it seemed like she screwed up her computer one way or another. So being she lives in the state of Washington and really couldn't afford to have someone come up and fix her computer all the time and being I live in NY msn was a life saver in that I could get on her computer and clean it up and fix what she had screwed up.

Like all the rest you can also send files back and forth and you can also video chat meaning if you have a cam and the other person also has a cam you can see as well as talk to each other at the same time.

It is just another tool where you can communicate in real time! Ya don't have to wait for someone to answer by email, you can communicate live as long as both parties are on at the same time.

I leave mine on so any of my relatives or friends can contact me as long as I am awake. But I never turn off my computer well unless I have to reboot or if Im going on a trip. But my computer is normally on and connected.

I use msn; yahoo; and, aol/netscape IM but I find most people that I know use MSN and I personally feel after using all of them for years MSN does more. However, being there are millions who have AOL prob AIM is the biggest messenger used.
