Hi folks,
I have to go to the great state of Texas in april for a wedding. April 10 to be exact. I know this is a bit early ot be asking but gotta plan out my trip.
Two of the best things in life IMHO are pedal steel guitar and BBQ. I'm hoping to maybe extend this wedding trip a couple days in the hopes of seeking out both of those wonderful things. So with your help...
"Best" BBQ and music venues (or specific dates or bands) in San Antonio? in Austin?

Rudys BBQ is good, you will smell BBQ in the air everywhere.

I will be at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar in Bandera, April 11 with The Stepsiders. It is in the hill country north west of San Antonio. Busbee's barbecue is there in town, plus The OST, that I feel has the best enchiladas for miles.
Rudy's is a chain all over the state, the quality is good and you can get your brisket lean, or easy to slide down.
My favorites would be The Hard Eight in Stephenville and Brady, or Coopers in Llano. |

Ummm BBQ!
Rudy's is good and consistant from store to store.
Ironworks in Austin is good. Next to the convention center.
Taylor has a great BBQ place down town. Louie Muller (not sure about the spelling)
Coopers in Llano is excellent
Stubbs in Austin is good, and sometimes good music too. Check their web site.
Lockhart has three good places. Two on 183 can't miss them.
Dukes in Georgetown is good. Just off of IH 35 off of Williams drive.
Luling City Market is great. Located in Luling Texas down town main street.
If you are looking for country music try the Broken Spoke in Austin. They have good country bands most of the week. Take a peek at the Copland Dance Hall (Copland Texas just outside of Austin) web site before you come down. Granger Cotton Club in Granger (just outside of Austin) also has good music on the weekends.

Ive been to austin a couple times but as i was playing Emos everytime, i never had much time to check out other venues. Someone took me to a BBQ place kinda on the outskirts of austin thats dynamite but I cannot remember the name. Small interior, large porch..anyone know the place from that vague description? |
