Awhile back I posted looking for advice on how to fix an original '53 Champ lapsteel that wouldn't operate correctly. It turned out to be the pickup. I also had a broken capacitor from a '52 tele. Found a guy named Whit Wilson in LA that fixed it so perfect you'd never know. He was even able to melt the original wax back into the end. He has also rewound a '67 Tele bridge and '53 Champ steel pups for me with great results and looks. Quick turnaround and great prices Very knowledgeable on all early fender stuff. Here's his URL: http://cromagnetics.com/
Thanks to all here who helped me with this one. Larry Otis

Larry. I had a similar problem with a 1940 Epiphone lap steel.
all the wiring looked fine, but the output was very low.
I learned the pickup had a broken wire.
Lindy fralin rewound it.
and now my lap steel roars.

it pays to rehabilitate r resurect these old steels.
