Hi Folks,
I know this is really short notice, but I'm wondering what you think of this guitar?:
Auction on eBay.
I've been wanting an 8-string to use with the Sacred Steel non-pedal tuning. I would love an old Gibson, but those are out of my budget....this one at least looks a bit like the old Gibson, and if it doesn't go too high the price may be right. Any opinions on these?
Thanks!

Yes, it was short on the notice, but
did you make a bid on it, Cliff?

That was a 6 string that someone converted. Look at the tuners(two non matching), nut(recut) and bridge. |

Epiphone used to make a great steel guitar. Back in the late 40's my parents bought me a double 8 Epiphone Zypher with a Zypher amp tht had a 15" speaker in it and the quality and tone were fantastic. I played that Epiphone for about 10 years, until I went to a Wright Custom pedal steel setup. Dont' be afraid to bid on or purchase a vintage Epiphone, as long as it is in reasonable shape, they are a fine steel guitar. They were much like the Gibson guitars. _________________ Carter D12, MSA S12, 12 String Custom Made Non-Pedal, Evans FET 500LV, Evans SE200, Peavey Nashville 400, Fender Steel King |

They made a model with a horseshoe pickup also, likely in the 30s before Rick got the patent approved. David Keli'i' had one, a six string. |
