Help, need fender D8 CASE specs.

Hello all, and thanx for a great forum from a new member from Denmark! I have just gotten my first steel - a nice ´54 fender D8 with trapz - that seems to have been a custom order for a guy named "Roy Williams"???
Anyway, it needs a case and I am considering re-organizing the inside of this fender-looking mandola case :
http://elderly.com/accessories/items/MKMC.htm
However - I need the OUTSIDE dimensions of an original fender D8 case, to make sure I can fit my guitar in there. If you might have one of those cases, please get your old ruler out and send me the specs. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Reggie...

I have an older Fender Stringmaster D-8 with the tweed and leather case. The inside dimentions are 34 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches. The outside dimentions are 35 3/4 x 11 x 4 1/2 inches. Since this was an earlier model case the legs do not fit inside the case. You may want to consider adding to the width to accomodate for the legs. Hope this helps.

Case for Fender Double Neck

Outside dimensions for my Fender case are 30 1/2 X 13 X 4 inches. Double neck eight string. However, mine is the short scale! Legs fit into a compartment built into the case.

Please READ the posting before you reply with information that will not help! The man has a DUAL PROFESSIONAL. He does not have a Stringmaster. Cases are not interchangeable. he needs to hear from someone with a Dual Professional guitar and case. He has a "54 fender D8 with trapz". Probably not a custom order at all. Almost every hillbilly who played steel back it those days stuck his name on the front of his steel.

Thanks Dave and Andy.
My D8 is the 22.5" scale, so I guess it comes closer to Dave Claks´ guitar. I am still not sure of the outside dimensions of the Mandola case, but it seems like my steel will fit in it - after ripping the linning out. I´ll let you know how it works out (once I get it worked out) so that everybody can benefit from my experiences.
Mike Lee, thanks for the info on the custom order. The "Roy Williams" is gone, and the new decal is on its way (thanks Alan) I´m gonna practise a little while longer, before putting my name on front my steel
Keep your spec´s comming, please. They´re very helpfull...

Reggie, be sure to ask Elderly for the dimensions of the case you want to purchase before buying it. I'd hate for you to get a case that's too short for your guitar!
Here's an auction on eBay for a guitar that's probably similar to yours, and it comes with a case. Perhaps you could contact the seller and ask for the dimensions of that case.
If I had one, I'd tell you myself, but I don't so I can't.

Dual Pro case interior is
29 3/8" long x
12 1/4" wide. The Guitar is
28 5/8" long x
12" wide at bridge end,
11" wide at head end. Any padding there once might have been is long gone in my case.
The case, externally, is around
5 1/4" deep on the hinge side, around
4" deep on the handle side.
I can give you further specs upon request.
Or I can sell you this mint condition beauty for a hundred million krone.

Brad Bechtel. I´ve checked with elderly and it seems the case as actually on the larger side compared to the original fender case, so I should be allright. I think it will leave a little space for bars, music and clean underware
Thanks for your concern...
Jon, thanks for the specs - my guitar is the excact same as yours. Great looking case you have there and a hundred million kroner sounds like a fair price for it! If I had a regular day job I would consider your offer, but I´d have to play 5 bazillion + gigs just to make a down payment...
I´ve ordered the Mandola case from Elderly today and I will let you know how it works out. Thanks again all of you, please close thread.
