I bought Hank Penny's "Crazy Rhythm: The Standard Transcriptions" and am loving the tunes and sounds on it.

Amazon link

According to the album notes and Amazon, Noel Boggs played on these cuts. Can anyone shed some light on what tunings he used?

EDIT: I should have done a forum search and not wasted the space on a post. Sorry.
Looks like NB used A6, E13th, B11, and C#min 9th tunings. Sounds like he jumped around alot to get all the cool chords he was playing.

thanks a heap,
Drew

I noticed Bloodshot Records were selling their "Soundies" releases on cassette only now as a blowout ; 3 for $10 . I believe they are now out of print . I picked up my Hank Penny used on Amazon and it's excellent .

I have been playing these fantastic Hank Penny Standard Transcriptions on my "Swingin' West" show for years. In addition to Noel Boggs, his California Cowhands were a very hot band with the late Benny Garcia on lead guitar. A very young Jaye P. Morgan (a pop singing sensation of the late 50s) was a vocalist in that Penny band of ca. 1951.
