Steel--Memphis, Mobile, Nashville?

A steel player buddy from Norway will be visiting the USA. Of course he wants to hit every tavern, honkeytonk where there might be a steel player in the band.
His name is Geir Inge Veland.
His itinerary is as follows:
Arrives Memphis Feb 4
Due to arrive in Mobile Ala for the George Jones show.
His route there will likely be I-55 south and veer off towards Mobile to arrive Feb 7
Anything to recommend along this route and time?
Stays in Mobile Feb 7 to 9 and then driving North to Nashville on I-65
Anything along that route?
Staying in Nashville Feb 9th to 14th. I told him he has to see the Time Jumpers. Hope they are performing in that interim. Anything else going on there?
Then he leaves Nashville on the 14 to head back to Memphis on I-40
Your feedback is greatly appreciated and I will keep him posted.

Thanks Brett. I hope my buddy reads that. At least he'll have a chance to meet one great picker.

Bent, I will be playing in the back room at Tootsies on Tuesday the 12th and Thursday the 14th, both 6-10. When Tom is in town, he has been playing with Galen Griffin on Thursday nights in the same slot at The Stage. Both of those are on lower Broadway. Definitely see the Time Jumpers on Monday night at the Station Inn.

By the way, tell him to stop off in Montgomery and see the Hank Williams museum. There is some Don Helms memorabilia (an exact twin to his Console Grande to name one). Hank's grave is just down the street.

If he's in Mobile on the 9th, the DSSG show is only an hour or so west on I-10 in Gulfport, MS. The show starts at 1:00 pm and looks to be a great show displaying a lot of diverse talent with some world class steel players. Your friend could very well hear as much steel at this one show as he will get to experience during the entire rest of his trip.
A small detour but well worth the effort. He won't be disappointed!
Hope he can make it. Check out Bill Stafford's post in Event Announcements.

The Guitar Don gave To Hanks place year before last at our Al. show was the same color but I believe it was a Triple 8. It looks the same just 1 more neck.

Geir Inge Veland wishes to thank everybody who contributed. He is trying to fit things into his route as he arranges for motels etc.
Thanks from me also...what a great community we have here!

Bent, I ran into a fellow from Norway at Bobbe's shop on Monday, then saw him and his wife at Tootsie's last night. I think this could have been your friend. We spoke briefly; it was loud, and he had left when my set was over. I think he had fun, so be sure to tell him thanks for coming out.

To Bent, do you know a Norwegian steel player named Steinar Albriksen , the surname may not be spelled correct..

John, Sorry for the late reply but I didn't see this one til I was scanning thru old posts..
Yes, I have gotten to know Steinar Albrigtsen as of late...He is the very able Tom Brumley emulator. Steinar plays in the Buck Owens tribute band Bakersfield.
