Has anyone put in a non radiused saddle blank on an acoustic guitar for playing lap style when you have a nut lifter installed ? I'm thinking about replacing the metal nutlifter and original nut with a tall micarta blank and replacing the Washburn bridge saddle with a straight saddle blank from Elderly that 'll notch with a file. I wonder if it will cause a problem with the angle being a little more than traditional slightly radiused saddle. Has anyone already tried this modification ?

I have. I paired a flat saddle with a nut-raiser on a guitar with a radiused neck and I haven't experienced any problems.

Except digital problems... if you get my meaning. But no problems with the guitar.

Craig.

there's a great article about doing this sort of conversion here: http://www.fretsmag.com/story.asp?sectioncode=58&storycode=12514
i recently put an extender nut on an old acoustic but, at the advice of other people on this forum, didn't replace the saddle. Hasn't caused any problems yet, but it's only been a couple months.
p.s. if you're interested in hearing how it sounds, two of the songs on my web page ("shrug" and "test before use") are played on the modified acoustic. Just click on the link from the signature below
