Yep that's Neil.....amazing player, saw him years ago with Joe Sun's band at a little gig in London. Ray Flacke had already left the band.

Micky, the photo was taken at the Wembley Country Music festival maybe 1979, I had just come off stage and was making my way to the Springfield stand , they asked if I would sit and play one of there steels when Neil grabbed me and said he liked what i had played as it was a little different from the other steel players. He interduced himself , I said I had the LP he had made for Sho-Bud ,it was lessons on how to play the steel.
He may have been there to back Joe Sun ,I have photos of Joe in the same batch as Neil along with George Jones and Marty Robins..

John, the gig I saw Neil at was "NOT" Wembley, it was a "small" gig in London where bands used to play, the name escapes my memory at the moment (old age Lol)I thought Ray Flacke was going to be there, because I had seen Ray backing Joe Sunn at Wembley. We were sitting right on stage, had special tickets, and when Ray walked out to set up he said to me"What you buggers doin here?" They didn't have a steel that particular time. The reason I went to this small venue was because I know Ray, he played lead for Julie and I a few months, before he upped and went to live in the States. We e'mail each other to this day. Many people were disappointed Ray was not at this particular gig, but Neil was awesome.

Thanks to Bobby Bowman for informing Neil about the photos. I'm hoping he may visit the forum..

he is still playing with Alvin Crow and they play at the world famous Broken Spoke which is an Austin landmark, 4 nights a month

Wasn't it Neil who coined the term "mash" the pedals?
