Finally, after two years in splendid isolation, in deep concentration in my dark studio cave, high on caffeine and lack of sleep, with a light greenish tint to my skin, I am proud to announce that my CD Southern Moon Northern Lights is now available from my website.

The beautiful cover artwork is by none other than our own Ron Bednar, and the mastering is masterfully done by another forumite,- Brad Sarno.

In appreciation for everything this forum has meant to me and how much I have learnt from being a member, I will donate $2 from every sale to a forum member (so remember to let me know you're a member, I don't know all the names by heart... Image ).

Steinar,
The slow instrumentals are very soothing! Very "new age" sounding.

Hello Steinar, Any plans for future CD's or videos(hint, hint)? I can't wait to get this one!

To video or not to video, that's the question... There's a possibility that I'll do a lap steel clinic at a Vintage Guitar show in Denmark this autumn, and I just found out that they do video tape their clinics and concerts. So who knows? Image

Sad message to those of you who hasn't ordered yet (don't worry, I still have a few copies left, hehe..) - I've had to readjust the CD price and shipping becasue I realized when I shipped the first orders today that it cost me $10 to ship one CD to the US. So I can't charge a total of $20 and spend $10 on shipping........ Image
The CD itself weighs 98 grams, and with a padded envelope it's approx 105 grams - if it had weighed less than 100 grams the cost of shipping would have been $5, which is what I expected....

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THOSE OF YOU WHO'S ORDERED:

As far as I can understand, no orders has arrived in the US yet, despite me shipping the first round on Monday 27th. I fear they might have been shipped as "economy" - even tough I paid for regular "air mail" - because I caught the post office clerk in labeling them "economy shipping". When I made her aware of that she excused herself and promised it would be corrected before they shipped.

BUT - if they have been sent "economy" that means they may take more than a month to arrive in the US and Canada - if you don't receive your order within this week, let me know and we'll work something out (and PLEASE send me a note if they arrive this week).
I have now placed 100 copies with forumite Russ Young in Seattle, so we can re-ship new CDs from him at no extra charge for those of you who are missing your copies.

And since I now can ship cheaper from Russ in Seattle, I have re-adjusted the prices back to the original $15 plus shipping.

Sorry for any inconvenience (and if I ever see that post clerk again...... Image )

My copy arrived this morning. played it twice over lunch. Great CD. Loved it.

Any chance you could let us know which LS you used on the various tracks?. I have a GeorgeBoards too and I would like to know how it is supposed to sound :-)

Ray.

Hi Ray - glad you like it!
All electric lap steel tracks are the Asher Electro Hawaiian, except "Will The Wind Ever Remember" which is the GeorgeBoards. I'm quite sure I would have used the Bel Aire on a few tracks also, but when I got it there wasn't any tunes left that I felt fit that guitar or the tuning I keep it in (D13).

Steinar,
I got mine today and am hlf way through it while driving around. It sounds fantastic!
I'm looking forward to listening to it tomorrow and then "Headphoning" it later.
Thanks for the thanks inside too.
Loni
ps. I think your fine vocal on the first track is mixed a little too low, or am I going Deaf.

You're the first to mention it (usually people tell me to get a 'real singer'.. Image ) but you could be right - I thought it sounded fine when I mixed it and didn't notice it was a bit low until I heard it played on the radio. For some reason it struck me then that the vocals perhaps was a bit low...

Another thing is that my mix and Brad's master had one common goal - to preserve the dynamics the best we could. I've heard the CD played in a noisy coffee shop, and parts of it was almost inaudible there. But that's how I wanted it to be, so I look forward to hearing your comments after you've listened to it on your home stereo (I don't drive so I have no idea how it sounds with the traffic noise in a car..).
