All who attended the Don Helms/Chris Malpass show
yesterday (12/30 in Selma, N. C. would agree that
there was something unique about it, owing to the close priximity of the anniversary of Hank Williams
death. Besides their usual fine tribute show, Don
shared some additional information on his days with
Hank that isn't in his book, and even held a question
and answer session afterwards. All of us knew we were witness to some specials insights with the last surviving link to those days.
Special mention must be given to the opening band,
Bryant Aycock's Nashville Rash. It has been a long time since I have seen a traditional country band
this good. Sparkling instrumental arrangemaents, great singing, and real dynamics, these guys put on
a clinic in how a real country band should play.
A real treat, and anybody's moneys worth. |

Hello Clyde,
Thanks so much for the kind words. You and I have talked alot about country musicians who "don't get it." I an so fortunate that these guys do. They all love TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC. There's not a lot of places to play, but we're trying to keep it together. I equally enjoyed you and the Malpass Family with Don Helms and hanging out. Country Music is alive and living well.
