The speakers in my Peavey stereo chrous 400 are about shot, the voice coil in one is sticking.
I don't think I want to go back with scorpions.
I wonder how it would sound with the Evans speaker's.
I want something as light as I can get but sound good.

Temporarily, I'd just put a new basket on the bad speaker. The new lightweight speakers are definitely the way to go, but most of them are 8-ohms. Very shortly, I expect Peavey to have their own lightweight 4-ohm speakers available. I'd wait until then to replace them.

One thing is for sure - I've bought my last "heavy" speaker! Wink I thought I'd read that their new speaker would weigh about 10 lbs., and if so, I'll be waiting until something lighter in 4-ohms is available from another manufacturer.

Thanks Donny, Maybe Mike Brown can give us a heads up about the light weight speakers. I love the sound of the amp but don't trust it to take out and play, Plus it pretty heavy.
The foam is gone from the rear of them. I think that makes them have to much treble.
