I just got through putting new (John Pearse) strings on all 4 of my Emmons Steels. Got em all tuned up and ready to go. Talk about sweet, boy they all sound great but my black '66 D-10 has the tone to die for. BTW, it's my favorite of the brewd. Hope all you guys have a Merry Christmas and are as proud of your guitars as I am mine. Nick

I've got three steels, but only one set of strings (that I bought secondhand) so, if I feel like playing my ZB, I have to take the strings off my Emmons (or my Denley) and put them on the ZB.

The problem is that with the Emmons having a longer scale length, the strings don't 'nest' on the nut rollers of the other two steels, which fortuously lends a strange (but pleasing) harmonic when the strings are picked.

Nick, I've owned 7 Emmons guitars and loved every one and wish I had them back, especially the P/P's. I currently own a 71 black P/P and a 2005 black Rains which are both very fine guitars and sound real close. I envy you for having so many beautiful Emmons. Have a Happy New Year.

Me too. Push/pull is all I know. I've been play Emmons push/pull for 38 years. Never owned any other kind of pedal steel guitar. Never owed a PSG newer than 1978. Fortunately I live close to Tommy Cass, a great PSG repairman who knows push/pulls inside out. About once a year I have Tom go through my guitar and tweak it.

Hey Nick,
I know what you mean. There's nothing quite like playing a push-pull. Your love of your Emmons is great to see. Your '66 looks really sweet. I would love to see detailed photos of the undercarrriage, next time you get the whim to show that gem off.

Doug,
I know you are now playing the S-10 Emmons most of the time (she's a beauty). But did you get rid of the D-10 you did have? Nick

Nick, yes, I sold that one a couple of years ago. It was pretty worn out after 25 years. I like your Emmons family! I'll bet that '66 has great tone and sustain.
