Does anybody here use the Yamaha WX-5 controller.
I use it while sitting behind the steel at times.
It is fingered like a sax and, of course, has MANY
available voices via the VL-70 synth. It has a
plastic "reed" that allows bends and expression.
I don't play regular saxophone(Not in front of anyone, anyway) but this unit fills a gap for us
our family show.

I am just looking for ideas for another synth to control with the WX-5. (New Voices). The tenor sax
that I use gets good reviews from the crowd AND
the soundman. I am looking for even more realistic woodwind voices.

Hey Eddie,
Never thought I would see a post about a midi wind controller here!
I have been playing an Akai EVI since the mid 80's. In fact I have one of the first production models. Mine is is fingered similar to a trumpet. I have played many gigs with it though never with the steel!
Most of my work has come from pit orchestras who need to keep costs down so I cover a couple of parts such as clarinet, sax, trombone and trumpet.
I'm pretty old school so I use a couple of yamaha TX81Z's that I have modified sounds for and a variety of outboard units such as a Roland GP8.

As for sounds, for the VL70 and other synths, go here:http://www.patchmanmusic.com/index.html
I would like to get my hands on an Oberheim xpander but that costs more than a new Carter steel so I'll go for the new steel!
Jam On!
Joe
