I've seen a lot of posts lately about people getting their SuperSlide. I'm curious how many forum members either have one now or have one on order and what you have.

Me: 12 String single neck and Double 8

7-string (dobro string spacing) single neck, tuned to G6th currently. Brown in color. PLayed through Nashville 112 amp.

Bill, I have a SuperSlide 6 string and the 8 string conversion kit. The Freedom stand is also great. Need to get a hard case for it. Anybody have one of those? Are they guitar shaped or rectangular? Looking for a compact case for traveling.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'm curious as to how many folks that are using Superslides are also pedal steel players. My hunch is that most players interested in this particular instrument are also pedal steel players. Why this is I'm not sure.

I would say that there are pedal steel players that still love the sound of pedal steel, but don't always want to drag their pedal steel around when a lap steel will suffice at times .....Not all the time mind you, but there are some gigs that you could do some great work with just the lap steel ... Don't forget , there are people making a living playing lap steel also ..
A lap steel and an amp , and a mic to mic the amp and your in business !!....Jim

I own a black, 10-string SuperSlide. It rocks. I played it at a gig opening for Dwight Yoakam here in Austin, and several pickers came up and said "your Ricky sounds great." Then they saw it was an SS.

I have a single 12 string. I've really enjoyed working my way through the 12 string tuning. Still a long way to go but I play that guitar every day.

About 3 weeks ago I received my 8 string SuperSlide in black with tortoise shell pickguard. No Freedom Bar capability since I don't plan on playing it with a strap. I also bought the lightweight Freedom Stand.

I play it through one of my 15" bass amps with a Lexicon reverb, also a Fender Deluxe Reverb amp, and an old Supro 5 watt tube job with a new Jensen 8" speaker. The bass amp is definately the fullest and sweetest sounding of the 3, but they all sound beautiful. Playing the SuperSlide through the Supro creates a very authentic vintage sound.

I have a red mahogany 8 string. It wails with some overdrive on it.

I have a butterscotch 10 string, that I am falling in love with. I took it to kick a jam with my brother last week and found I could write some "song" or instrumental type things on pretty easily. I am using it also as tool to get my C6 playing together. Reese and Kyle sent it to me tuned like the back neck of a D-10 and I am going with that for now. It really does have an incredible amount of vintage vibe for being a new instrument. The hardshell case is a very high-quality flight case with recessed ATA latches and lots of padding and a compartment for the stand. I'd recommend getting it. I gig a lot and a gig bag won't work for me. As I mentioned in another post, I will bring it to Howard's C6 seminar for any and all to play.

I tune it to C6.

A D7 in the oven as we speak.

Man, there's a lot of y'allins. And I haven't heard one yet.

I have a double-8 ss cream with tortoise shell pick guard and freedom stand,tuned to c6 and e13.serial no. 001 bought from Bobby Seymour.I use a Nashville 112 amp and I love it!!! Bobby played it on his sunday set at the psga show in Norwalklast november.He was fantastic!!!

That is no doubt the guitar that Bobbe uses in the SuperSlide-Off DVD.

It's a looker and Bobbe made that sucker sing!

Mike N....I'll be in New York city for a workshop on Feb. 26th and there will be plenty of SuperSlides there if you would like to hear one.

Let me know when you commit to your 12 string ss . I will make the trek down to try it out. I think I will at least buy the Slide off DVD....I am sure it is a great learning tool all the way around. Curious minds want to know.

Todd-it should happen this spring-just trying to pull the dough together to give Reece the go ahead!

I have been studying Reeces' 12 string tuning and how it lays out on the neck-in some ways it's easier for me to grasp than 6 string C6th, if that doesn't sound too crazy!

You should definitely go for the DVD. It wasn't recorded in ideal conditions, at a restaurant in Nashville, but you get a great idea of what this new non-pedal guitar is about. As I have written before-Bobbe's playing on the 8-string is absolutely killer, but Reece and Randy Beavers show you what this 12 string tuning is all about-lush and rich-and having seen Bobby Black play his a couple months ago in Sonoma-I'm getting tired of waiting to place my order, but there are some other items to pay for around here that are taking precedence. Damn!

I play my 10 string SS everyday. It's tuned to C6. If you want to see it, it's the green one Randy Beavers is playing on the Steel Guitar Nashville website. jc

I would like to know the string spacing of the MSA superslide, 8, 10 and 12 string necks.
The 12 looks so close together...whereas the 8 looks about 3/8ths of an inch between the strings...which I like.
i did not see any specs on the MSA web site.
Can any owners give me these specs?
