Gives a whole new meaning to parlor guitar. More like "massage parlor guitar".

Like the Lilly of the Valley engraving pattern of the 20s Nationals, future resophonic scholars will likely refer to this engraving pattern as a "Style 4, bimbo pattern" or perhaps the "Hey, Honey - lookin' for a date?" pattern.

If you like highly engraved jewel encrusted resonators, there's a National Resophonic Tricone that was made about a decade ago called "Jewel of the Nile". It's been in the hands of several dealers, and last seen was on "Rudy's" list. It's a sight to behold.

Here's my 1930 National Style 3 "Lily of the Valley"

Who is the guy trying to stab himself in the forehead with a pencil? Wink Elvis, or Johann Wolfgang von Goethe? Smile

Sometimes "decorations" go to far.

But to be fair, all the old National "decorations" out of context are really tacky too. Those flower decals on the Triolians - would anyone want wallpaper like that? And how about a Lily of the Valley embroidered suit? Smile But, there is some magic mojo factor that makes the engraved Tricones really cool (and I love the Style 3 "Lily..." - the roses of styles 2 and 4 smell a bit like vulgar perfume to me Wink). The Tricone was such a modernistic design, and then engraved like Victorian dinner silver. A quite crazy mixture, but it works, or are we all blinded by that shiny German silver?

Wink

Mr. Neer,

What a great homepage photo on your site! Somehow I missed this before. Is that a new page? Regarding the guitar in question I do like the headstock logo (Owens). That part is tasteful.

Of course - it's the classic "Elvis, Aces and Showgirls" model. Shocked
Made specifically to solo on "Viva Las Vegas"....I suppose.

She's not bad, she's just engraved that way. Smile

This Owens is more Jewel De'Nyle. :p

I agree - I much prefer the "Exploding Palm" in all its Deco Madness.

That's beautiful, Darrell. Does it belong to your other brother Darrell?
(if you don't get the reference you slept through the 80's).

I love Deco stuff in all it's forms, and that is amazing.
