Another picture from Joe Douglas that he got from Robby's Aunt.

According to Blake Hawkins the picture was taken at WSFA in Montgomery, AL and the doubleneck that Robby's dad is holding is an early National.

Some years ago I was attending Scotty's convention and I happened to speak with Robby's Mother(I think she is the Lady in this picture with the guitar?) At the time I had in my possesion an early National "The Console" double neck which I was selling-Mrs. Turner looked at it and said words to to the effect that it was "Just like the one her Husband played with Hank"
Here is the proof Very Happy
I probably should have kept that guitar Rolling Eyes

Real nice!

So Robby was born to this steel guitar. I didn't know that. I do recall, now that Paul mentioned it, Robby's mom being at Scotty's with him a few years back.

Cool!

I would have guessed Hank was Chester Atkins.

Is he holding a fiddle bow? Chet started as a fiddler.

It looks like a fiddle bow to me. Hank could play the fiddle as well. In later years, he'd only play it when drinking.

Supposedly, he could play Sally Goodin with the best of them. When Hank hired Jerry Rivers, Hank played Sally Goodin and then had Jerry Rivers play Sally Goodin...Hank figured anyone who could play it as good as him, was an alright fiddler. Apparently, Jerry Rivers did a good enough job at it.

I zoomed in. It sure looks like a silver-mounted fiddle bow to me!
