I've taken a liking to B's B and YouTubing around I've noticed it played in a bunch of keys.

Is there a "holy grail" of keys for this tune (E9)?

I wouldn't want to be accused of anything "untraditional.." Laughing

I usually play it in G but just tried it in F. Sounds much fuller to me in F and if you want to embellish it, F works well with hammer ons and open strings.

After listening to Jimmy Day's version, my favorite, he plays it in D# so I assume he was playing a D9th tuning. Playing it in F on the E9th tuning is the closest I can come to that sound.

I learned it off of the old Emmons Guitar Co E9th course and it was tabbed in F in that course.

Bud Isaacs plays it in F.

Check out his new Bear Family disc if you can. It's all his RCA instrumentals reissued. Liner notes are by Eddie Stubbs and the band includes Buddy Harmon, Dale Potter and lots of Chet Atkins.

F is the key!

I don't know why Winnie tabbed it in G in his book.

Trivia: Chet Atkins owned that song, and sold Winnie the rights to publish it in his book for $50.
