I just bought and listened to Buck's CD. I must be behind the times regarding his talent. This guy is a picker and anyone who hasn't got his CD, should in my humble opinion. Incredible tone and playing, so good that you want to throw your steel in the trash after listening.

Couldn't agree more - Buck's CD is great and in particular, his version of "Cry" is absolutely beautiful.
Years ago I met Buck in a club in Mobile AL when he was touring with Rob Crosby (?). I was getting discouraged with a ShoBud SuperPro that needed a fair amount of work and was taking the enjoyment out of my playing. He took the time between sets to sit down with me, give me pointers on maintenance I could do myself and, failing that, contacts in Nashville to get my steel all fixed up and fun to play. He also gave me the motivation I needed to get out of the learning roadblock I was having trying to teach myself steel. Twenty or so years later I'm still at it and will always be grateful for his help.

I heard some of Buck's CD and was afraid to get it for fear I'd never play again. He is one of the best.
