Here's an update on this post:

I played a concert/dance gig today with the Vox DA5. Still the original batteries. I will now say that you can get around 15 hours or so on a set of batteries. I noticed during some loud picking the LED would dim a bit, no change in tone or volume though. Fifteen hours is pretty good in my book.
The concert today was a Swing Quartette. Fiddle, Stand Up Bass, Rhythm Guitar and me on lead guitar and Bakelite Rick. Everyone was amplified by either a pickup or mic. I mic'ed the DA5 with a Shure SM-57 and ran it through the board.
The DA5 performed great. Nice fat tone on both instruments.
Here is something I learned about the DA5. The volume, gain and tone controls are very sensitive. Just tweeking them slightly results in major changes to volume, gain and tone. This is good and bad. Good, because you can really dial in the tone you want. Bad, because if you quickly turn a knob and then start a song you may have too much of a tone or volume you don't want.
Again... I'm keeping the amp.
