I was wondering what the contour knob does on the old Standell Custom solid state amps.

You can "move around" mid frequencies with it, but it's very subtle, not like a middle-knob in a Fender style amps. Actually treble and bass controls are very subtle in Standel amps too. Contour control in the new Standels is even more subtle; just to add a little tone color options for single coil vs humbucker PU's. |

Jussi,
Thanks. Thats what it seemed like to me also. I was wondering if I was missing something. I have just had Charlton's old Standell repaired with NOS parts and it sounds like a little bit of heaven. _________________ Bob |

Bob, in speaking with Mike Cass who is a fan of the old Standel Custom 15 he told me that he sets the contour knob at 12:00 and Buddy on same amp set it at 11:00. I set it at 11:00, treble at 9:00 and bass at about 3:00
