I am looking for a lapsteel gig bag. My steel is about the size of a Gibson. I saw online the Gretsch bag. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments on this bag?

TKL makes one in their "Black Belt" series. I have one that came with my Melobar. It fits well, not the most padded thing in the word, but it does the job.

a smaller Levy's keyboard gig bag may work...I have one but can't recall exact spec right now.

I have the Gretsch bag, not bad for the $ but not a whole lot of padding and the little zippered compartment won't hold even a 10' cable. 31" max. room for height and 7.5" width.

TKL and Levy bags might be more secure and have more room for cable etc. (?)

also, I've seen a number of posts here and elsewhere with good results using Baritone Uke/1/2 size guitar bags, and there are more to choose from.

There are several Uke cases. I am going to measure up the guitar and see if it will fit. Looks promising with the baritone cases.

Thanks all!

Check out the bag at the bottom of this page:

They work great. I have three of them and would be willing to part with one.

Wow. That looks a lot better than my Fouke gig bag! But I got it used, and don't know if it was actually sold by Fouke, or purchased separately.

I bought a Gig Bag a few yrs. ago at Guitar Center. It's a Martin & Co. Backpacker gig bag. It's 10 1/2 inches wide X 36 inches long. It should work for most lap steel guitars. Also not alot of padding.

Somebody here turned me on to the Fender Squier Mini-Strat gigbags a while back. They work perfect for my Supro and Loney and would work for a lot of different sizes I suppose. Check them out. The pouch will handle a cord or two and whatever.

I bought a used fiddle case (rectangular type) at a pawn shop,,,works great for my keyless lap steels,,,would be long enough for a keyed model.
