Several days ago I went to open a door.
Seems simple enough, however, the lockset had not yet been installed in the new double wide door.
Reached into the hole for the lockset, and, in the process of pulling the door open, dug a gouge in my right hand middle finger, right where the finger pick band wraps up near the finger nail.
Holy cow does that hurt to play.
Musicians must suffer........... |

Have ALWAYS protected my fingers since I was a ten year old kid learning to play the guitar, never did anything that required tools, saws, hammers, wrenches, etc, has cost me a small fortune over the years, paying carpenters, plumbers, mechanics, electricians, etc, but at 68 STILL have ALL my fingers,a lot of them dont, don't you know. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. My father in law who was a farmer, could never understand why I always wore glove's to help him biuld fence. I've always been protective of my fingers. But a little over a year ago I was putting grease on the travel chain on the trim saw in my business and ran my fingers into the blade. Almost cutting my thumb, index and middle fingers off. They did 2 hours surgery but saved them. I lost the very end of my index and some feeling but I'm back to playing. I have trouble using a finger pick on my index so I use a striat pick between it and my thumb and a pick on my middle finger.I know I'll never be a speed picker but to me taste is more important. _________________ Custom Rittenberry SD10

A few years ago I was cutting a mortise on the table saw when the blade grabbed the board and mortised the distal joint on my left ring finger (Table Saw Rule #1: never have your hands in line with the blade). They saved the finger but the joint is now fused. Had to sell all my six strings but fortunately I can still play steel. |
