Setting my steel up and I notice that my old Sho~bud volume pedal doesn't shut off when I try to lower the volume. It raises ok. Am I in need of a new pot or adjustment?

Any suggestions?

Probably just adjustment for whatever you want. Completely off when in the "up" position or almost off as some like.

Could be the string is slipping too. May need a replacement for the string if it's been in there since the volume pedal was new.

Thanks Jack. I'll take it apart later and see. I've never been inside a volume pedal yet.

My goodrich pedal maintained in the off position but this sho~bud rests full down. Is that normal?

and where would I get this new string?

There is a spring toward the inside back of the pedal that may be getting fatigued, if it won't hold position for you. Most hardware stores will have a spring you can adopt to your application.

For replacement string, a piece of fishing flyline works great. Take a digital picture of your string and how it's wound, then just reverse the procedure with your replacement string. hope this helps!

The spring must be fatigued. I took the cover off and it's not broken so off to the local hardware store.

I imagine the string is adjusted while the pedal is in the up (volume off) position. If not I imagine I'll find out soon enough.

Thanks for the help James and Jack. It's really appreciated.

Missed you this weekend RC. Enjoyed the talk at the music store. Good luck with the guitar and pedal.

Hey Jerry,

How are ya? As you can see I'm still getting this thing set up properly. I had hoped to find a spring and oil at the local Home Depot or Lowes but they don't carry that kinda stuff. Guess I'll be heading to the local Ace Hardware Monday.

Nice meeting and talking with you. Let me lnow what your playing schedule will be and we'll definetely hook up soon.
