Request help in planning our trip

Hi All,
We are planning our trip to Nashville next year,
In searching the 'net for Hotel/motel I have come across some terminology I do not understand and I would be obliged if someone could explain.
Example
Room rates
60 USD Rack rate
58 USD AAA Rate
58 USD AARP Rate

Hi Billy. The AAA rate is a discounted rate for members of the AAA (American Automobile Association). Dunno what the AARP is, but presumably it's another affiliation that can get you a discount. "Rack Rate" is a term I haven't encountered.

By the way, we absolutely loved Scotland this summer!

I'm not familiar with the term "RACK"..
1. But the USD is 'U.S. Dollars'
2. AAA is "American Automobile Association ".It is a motoring club that insures you if you have need of road service for your auto. It covers flat repair, lock-out if you get locked out of your auto, a certain amount for bail-bonds, run out of petrol,jump start your auto, towing your auto, and other emergency road services, depending on the policy coverage.
3. AARP is "American Association of Retired People".AARP is also a club with benefits especially for seniors.They have numerous services for their paid members..Insurance, emergency road service, health programs, pharmacy programs, and many,many services you can enroll in.
Both AAA and AARP have partnerships with car rental agencies and numerous motel, and hotels, to offer discounts on room rates..etc..discounts vary for each motel/hotel chain, but it will save you several dollars.I think the dues are about $20,or $25 for 3 years..or something like that .But the savings on a few days stay in a motel/hotel property will more than pay your membership fees.

Hi Billy,
RACK rate is the term that they use in the hospitality industry for the undiscounted or "list price" of a room.

In that case, the difference in those rates wouldn't buy you a Big Mac in Scotland Billy!

Thank you very much gentlemen.
The discounts are quite small so I doubt if I will become a member of the AAA,I already am an RP(retired person)although I do not have dual Nationality so I guess it is Top Dollar for Me

Bob,I am glad You enjoyed your stay in Scotland,I hope the weather was'nt too bad.It was a very bad summer all in.

Billy, we missed the floods in the Cotswolds, and had the best week of weather the Loch Tay area had all summer. I climbed Ben Lawers, and it was foggy at the top (and fiercely windy) but I gather it is usually that way - we rarely saw the peak for the whole week.
