lap steel: not just for music anymore

I just came across this. . .thought it was pretty clever & cool that it doesn't just look like something other than a guitar, but actually functions that way, too.

It was custom made for Barbara Mandrell by Semie Mosely. More photos and info available at this link:

I've seen another guitar made for or inspired by Ben Harper that was supposed to be a skateboard, too. It's not on his site anymore & can't remember who made it.

Anyone else seen/made/played other double-duty steel guitars?

:idea: So probably you'd start on the skateboard steel, then keep going with the crutch steel. :)

Brad: yeah, that's the guit-board I meant. . .thanks!

Stephan: Good thinking! Some way to dull the pain would be useful too, so maybe a re-imagining of the term "bottleneck guitar" is in order?
