I'm currently visiting family in New Hampshire, where I recently took delivery of my new Jackson Blackjack "3&4". I can only say that I am very very pleased with this new pedal steel...I can't say enough about the playability and precision of this fine instrument....the pedals and levers are butter smooth, the clarity and string separation is superb, it is very sturdy without bieng overly heavy, it has virtually NO cabinet drop, and it has, in my opinion, "tone to the bone"!
In the short few days that I have had it, I cannot help but recognise that I am doing things on this steel that I could'nt do before - it just "takes you to another level" as soon as you sit behind it!
"Hats off" to Dawn, David, and the folks at Jackson for building a top-quality beautiful instrument at a very affordable price! |

John - What's the turnaround time on orders for the Blackjack? I've been looking at these on their web site for a while now. It looks like a lot of steel guitar for the money. Their "Full House" model (3 & 5) with case comes to $1795 with the case, which is a great price. I haven't seen any negatives on this guitar anywhere. How's the leg room underneath? How many raises and lowers? Beautiful guitar.

The waiting period is about 14 weeks or so, but it is certainly worth the wait! My guitar has 3 pedals & 4 knee levers, and came with the standard E-9 set-up. However, if you wish a different set-up, the folks at Jackson will accomodate to your specifications prior to shipping. The Blackjack has individual radius pulling fingers, which allows each string to be set up to either raise or lower. There is plenty of leg room, and all 4 legs are adjustable. The "fit and finish" of this guitar is prestine...it has gobs of sustain and tone, and the playability is second to none. It's a good solid well-built instrument that looks as good as it sounds! I'm playing mine through an old Sho-Bud "Christmas tree" amp (15" JBL D130F speaker) with just a "tad" of digital delay.
If I was any happier, I'd have to be twins to enjoy it all!! |

Thanks for the info John. Sounds great. I've been doing a lot of looking at all the photos and specs on their web page for the Blackjack. I'm impressed with what I see, and what I read from the users. I've been studying GFI, BMI, and the Jackson Blackjack. I want something modern and light weight, and I don't want to move around an older heavy guitar. I love Sho-Buds, and 2 of the 3 steels I've owned were just that. I've got neck (spine) trouble, and I have to avoid the heavy weights.
These guitars are laminated with black mica and are beautiful for sure - what's underneath? Hard rock maple?

To the best of my knowledge, the Blackjack has a high-gloss laminate finish over hard veneer. |
