Here are three recordings of Bob Waters and the Paradise Islanders from 1966. Bob is 43 years old at the time on these cuts. I have no idea who the steeler is.

Bob passed away last week. http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/008423.html

Either Bob's voice deepened over the years or the recorder was callibrated a bit off. My vote is his voice deepened because "Sweet Someone" is in F on the recording and I'm sure that is the traditional key for that song. If the recorder was callibrated wrong it probably would have sounded F# or E.

Thanks to Ron Simpson and Dirk Vogel for these recordings.

As we've all heard Bob say many times over the years "there has been a lot of money made in the key of F". I don't know what it means but it must be true. A big Mahalo Nui Loa to Gerald and my son Joel for making these new fangled contraptions called computers do what needs to be done.
The steel guitarist on the recordings is Tommy "Whitey" Yeazell.
